Members of Spalding Indoor Bowls Club spent a wonderful weekend of fun, laughter and entertainment at the renowned Potters Bowls in Norfolk.
The event was the finals of the Open Singles Circuit, which had two players flying the flag for Spalding.
The visitors were entertained by a fine display of bowling, with round robin group stages followed by a knockout competition.
As always in this type of competition there are surprising results – as was the case when Spalding lost their club captain Graham Smith in the group stages.
However, Jordan Philpott showed tremendous form leaving a number of excellent players in his wake as he reached the final.
Unfortunately, he lacked the form he had shown throughout the event and his opponent hit top form.
There were 54 Spalding bowlers, family and friends who travelled on the excursion, organised by Roger Perkins, and a total of 60 were present to cheer him on in the final – the highest yet as mentioned by the organiser.
A Spalding spokesman said: “It has to be said that all present were proud of Jordan in the way he represented Spalding – and we thank you Jordan.
“Potters were at their usual high standard and the added bonus was that the entertainment on the Saturday night was the all new Christmas show which was something special and enjoyed by all.”

Spalding won on one rink, drew on another and lost two, as they fell to a 84-68 defeat.
