Top-seven honour for club

Spalding Water Polo are celebrating being named among the top seven clubs in the country.

They reached the final stages of the Swim England Club of the Year awards and were just pipped at the post by West London Penguins for the top title.

Club spokesman Mark Le Sage said: “What an amazing success story for such a small town club, competing against major cities for the title spot.

“The team, coaches and managers are all extremely proud of what the club has achieved over the last 50 years.”

The awards were presented at the University of Birmingham and Spalding were there after having being named Water Polo Club of the Year for the East Midlands.

Socials and marketing officer Rachel Vidler said: “To be one of the final seven, among such strong competition, was a privilege. It is credit and testament to every single person who makes the club the community it is.”
