A Whaplode woman has receieved an award for her group’s poppy collection efforts.

Margaret Gregory, poppy organiser for the Holbeach St Marks branch of the Royal British Legion, travelled to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby last week for the launch of the Lincolnshire poppies ceremony.

It was there she was given the Jill Rymer award by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Toby Dennis.

Janette Newell, Margaret’s daughter and Holbeach St Marks RBL secretary, said: “They base it on how many people there are in the branch against how much was raised.

We have got 19 members and raised more than £1,800.

“We won it seven years ago and now we’ve won it again.”
