New Spalding Golf Club captain Tony Holbrook received the traditional golf ball from club professional Adam Keogh at the annual Captain’s Drive In event.
An impressive 119 members took part in the Stableford competition at the Surfleet course to mark the ocassion, followed by a social evening at the club.
- Some 24 ladies played in the second round of Spalding’s Groom Shield a bogey competition.
The winner was Pat West with +1 ahead of Sally West (also +1) in second and Paula Brown (level) in third.
The top 12 ladies qualify for the thrd round.
On the same day, nine ladies played in a Stableford competition.
Jacquie Walton won on 39 points, ahead of Sue Dewar (33pts) and Kay Green (29pts).
- Angela Roper got the better of 36 of Spalding’s lady members to win a Stableford competition on Wednesday.
Her score of 35 points pushed Ruth Atkins and Paula Brown (on 34 points) into second and third place respectively.
- The ladies’ AGM took place on October 10 and votes of thanks were given to the outgoing lady President Jean White and the outgoing lady captain Theresa Starbuck.
The new lady captain is Lainey Macleman and the new President is Pat West.
Sutton Bridge Golf Club’s ladies’ AGM saw a host trophies dished out to deserving winners.
The lady golfer of the year prize went to Karen Gillett, while the scratch golfer of the year was claimed by Nicola Elphick.
Another coveted award, the most improved golfer, went to Roz Fridholm.
To finish off the year, three ladies shot holes in one between October 5-18. Jane Woolard aced the 15th hole (October 5), while Margaret Fox (Oct 16) and and Judy Green (October 18) both drove straight in on the second hole.
Greeves Cup – 1st Brenda Bell; 2nd Christine Burrell; 3rd Karen Gillett.
Hurst Cup – 1st Janet Groves; 2nd Ann Davis; 3rd Judy Green.
Ladies v Ladies Committee – the ladies’ committee won the end of season match 3-1.
