Tim’s ton steers Spalding Town 2nd to a healthy 39-point advantage at the top

A century from Tim Norris fired Spalding Town 2nd 39 points clear at the top of South Lincs and Border League Division One on Saturday as they dispatched Baston by 57 runs.

Opener Norris made 107 in Town’s 230-6 at the Memorial Field, with Hafiz Majeed adding 45 and Matt Gill also chipping in with 34.

Liam Davies (55) and James Tickler (43) scored well in Baston’s reply, which closed on 173-8 to leave Spalding a little frustrated that they couldn’t take maximum bowling points.

Still, Majeed (4-17), Jamie Juckes (3-48) and Matt Sharpe (1-36) all took wickets to give Town a healthy 19-point haul.

They’ve now won all eight of the games they’ve contested this season, with the other two abandoned.

With Spalding Town without a game in the Premier Division, they saw Sleaford 2nd cut their lead to 22 points.

Meanwhile, fellow top tier outfit Long Sutton were handed a 98-run defeat by Bourne 2nd at Paradise Field.

Rob Simpson (4-37) and Jake Burton (4-35) starred as the visitors were dismissed for 140 batting first, with Tom Bentley (34) top scoring.

However, Sutton’s reply never really got going and they were all out for 42.

No player managed double figures, with Bentley claiming 6-20.

Down in Division Two, both Pinchbeck and Long Sutton 2nd suffered defeats.

Danny Jackson starred for Pinchbeck, making 93 (including 17 fours) to help his side post 134 at Belton Park 2nd.

That almost proved to be enough, as Nick Crook took 5-20 to halt the home reply before they edged to 135-7 in 44.3 overs to seal a three-wicket win.

Sutton 2nd were bowled out for 57 at table-toppers Claypole, with only opener Andrew Wright (12) making double figures.

Andy Shaw snared two wickets for Sutton as they tried to defend the impossible, but Claypole reached 58-3 in the 12th over.
