Time to party in Pinchbeck as the annual carnival comes to town

Pinchbeck Carnival is back this weekend with ‘Careers’ being the theme of three days of fun in the village.

Newly crowned carnival queen Abigail Slade will lead the ever popular parade on Saturday flanked by prince Samuel Start and princess Gabriella Santana.

It will leave Wimberley Way at 12pm and make its way to the Rotten Row Playing Fields were all the weekend’s attractions are based.

The carnival itself opens at 11am on Saturday with entry for the whole day £3 for adults and £1.50 for children.

There will be the usual fantastic array of stalls and refreshments on offer as well as brilliant displays to see in the arena.

Demonstrations include those from The Essex Dog Display Team, Breaston Highlanders, Diamondz School of Dance, Kuk Sool Wan and more.

Another highlight for those of all ages will be a thrilling fly past of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

There will also be tug of war and fancy dress competitions, the latter based on the careers theme.

A host of classic cars will be taking part in the parade and be on display at Rotten Row.

There’s going to be plenty of opportunities to enjoy crafts with numerous sessions aimed at both adults and children taking place throughout the day.

Saturday evening from 6pm will see a ‘Vinyl Night’ during which there will also be quizzes and games.

Don’t forget the whole weekend starts the previous day with the now annual Friday night bingo in the marquee on the playing field.

It’s eyes down at 7pm and entry is £1 a book.

Finally the marquee will also host a combined church service at 10.30am on Sunday morning and that will be followed at 1pm by a special Sunday lunch.

Anyone can attend the lunch. Tickets for the lunch costing £7.50 are available by ringing Chris Schofield on 01775 680444.
