Tigers will prioritise league over Lincs FA Senior Trophy

Holbeach United face the unusual prospect of two games in as many days this week – and angry boss Graham Drury admits that tonight’s (Tuesday) UCL Premier Division clash with Sleaford Town will take priority.

The Tigers make the trip to Eslaforde Park as league leaders following Saturday’s 2-1 win over Eynesbury Rovers and will be favourites to take another three points.

However, Holbeach are also scheduled to host Boston Town in a Lincs FA Senior Trophy game tomorrow (Wednesday)  night (7.45pm).

That’s because the Poachers were unable to raise a side to fulfil the fixture last week – and Drury thinks that the situation is unacceptable.

He said: “It’s unusual, but we’ll simply field two totally different teams for sure. Sleaford is our priority as we feel totally let down and disillusioned by the Lincs FA Senior Trophy.

“Before last week we were taking it very seriously, but what happened just isn’t good enough and we’ll no longer give the competition any respect.

“We’ve been told that the Sleaford game is 100 per cent on, even if it rains all day long, so we’ll focus on that one and getting three points.”

Holbeach have no fresh injury concerns for tonight’s Lincolnshire derby.

The same can’t be said of South Holland rivals Spalding United, who are without injured leading scorer Andrew Tidswell for their Evo-Stik League First Division South game at Rainworth Miners Welfare (7.45pm).

The striker damaged a hamstring in Saturday’s 2-1 triumph over Coalville Town and won’t be risked in Nottinghamshire.

New signing Jordan Nuttell – who can play in defence or attack – could go straight into the side, with Saturday’s match-winner Tom Waumsley also pushing for a start.

Alex Pycock, a keeper signed from Loughborough Dynamo, is also in the squad as competition for number one Michael Duggan.
