AFC Sudbury Reserves 1
Holbeach United 3
Despite a long drive into Suffolk, the Tigers travelled well and came home with a win safely in the bag.
The team visited Sudbury Town Reserves in their Thurlow Nunn League Division One North match at the weekend.
The win means the Tigers remain unbeaten in their last seven matches and are currently sitting sixth in the table, just two points ahead of Downham Town in seventh, but the Norfolk side has still got three games in hand.
The Tigers travelled without the team’s top scorer scorers Cal Davies, Will Barnes and John Yambasu and were looking to repay an early season loss to the Suffolk club.
Harvey Henderson netted the opener and then James Eveleigh struck back for the home side to level the score.
Then Lewis Baughan scored his fifth Tigers goal of the season to put his team back in the driving seat.
Tigers goalkeeper Max Rigby pulled off some top saves to keep the hosts at bay, including a late penalty for Sudbury which was well-saved.
It was Rigby’s second stop from the spot in successive games.
There was a long spell of stoppage time and success was sealed when Adrian Bilicz netted the third on a breakaway during the 100th minute of the match
Holbeach are at home on Saturday and face Harwich & Parkeston in a long-distance clash.
The teams are more than 100 miles apart and South Holland fans face a two-and-a-half hour drive to get to the Essex town for the return fixture. The Harwich team is currently tenth in the table, with 16 points to Holbeach’s 19.
The next Reserves fixture will see the Tigers take on Ramsey Town FC on November 5 with a 2pm start.
Holbeach Reserves will be playing a home game on November 5.
The team takes on Ramsey Town FC, eight places below them in the PDFL Premier Division.
A weekend clash with Deeping Rovers Reserves at Holbeach saw the home Reserves chalk-up a very welcome 3-2 win.
