Tigers top of the tree as Beeson batters Buckby

A double from Lee Beeson helped send Holbeach United two points clear at the top of the UCL Premier Division on Saturday as they eased past Long Buckby 3-0 at Carter’s Park.

An early Tommy Treacher strike (4) put the Tigers ahead, before Beeson missed a penalty following a foul on Danny Steadman.

The former Spalding United winger made amends with a stunning lob on 18 minutes, before burying his second penalty of the afternoon in the closing stages to seal the points.

The win makes it four league wins out of four for John Chand and Graham Drury’s Tigers, who face Boston Town next in the FA Cup next Saturday (home, 3pm).

In the Peterborough and District Premier Division, Pinchbeck United remain unbeaten after a 2-2 draw at Stilton United. Ian Dunn’s side slip to sixth as a result.

Moulton Harrox, meanwhile, made it four draw from as many matches as they held leaders Coates Athletic 1-1 in their own back yard.

Meanwhile, Crowland Town got their first three points of the season with a  3-2 triumph over Leverington Sport at Snowden Field.

But there was another defeat for promoted Holbeach United Reserves. Omar Joof’s charges went down 2-1 at ICA Sports and are bottom of the table.
