Tigers’ teams roar off with five-cup collection

Tigers had a feast at the Spalding League finals, picking up five trophies as the divisional cups, 180s, pairs and individual titles were decided.

The Division One Supreme Cup final was a closer affair between first and second-placed Tigers C and Consti A. Tigers went 2-1 up in the pairs with wins from Ant Richardson and Monty Bunn and Colin Hatter and Kev Aldhouse. Consti’s win came from Kieran Bowman and Sam Roberts. Mark Horspool then beat Jack Chilvers 2-1 to stretch the lead to 3-1 but Nick Moyses and Jason Vines pulled it back to 3-3. Wins for Simon Hill and Monty Bunn sealed victory and a league and cup double for Tigers C.
The Division Two Dick Morgan Cup was between league winners Pied Calf and Consti D. Calf’s dominance through the season was backed up with a fine win after going 3-0 up in the pairs. Jacob Herd and Josh Faulkner won their singles games to complete a league and cup double.
The Division Three Kelly Foster Cup was between Green Dragon and Riverside Hotel. Dragon were 2-1 up after the pairs thanks to wins from Toby Lyons and Athena Overton and Mick Holstead and Callum Templeman. Templeman had a 114 check out. Andy Taylor and Tracey Baldwin won 2-1 for the Riverside. Taylor then won his singles 2-0 against Ben Laud to level the tie.
Wins for Kieran Grove, Finn Rodgers and Holstead sealed the victory. Holstead won in 14 and 16 darts.
A throw-off was needed to settle the Division One 180s title after four players tied on five each during the season.
Tigers C Ant Richardson emerged victorious with his last two throws of 100 and 121.
Reigning Division One pairs champions Nick Moyses and Andy Bingham of Consti A failed to hang on to their title, going down to Simon Hill and Ant Richardson of Tigers C.
The Division Two final saw Pied Calf collect more silverware with Jacob Herd and Harry Faulkner beating Drayman’s B Connor Hughes and Chris Howling.
The Division Three final was an all-Riverside affair with Andy Taylor and Tracey Baldwin winning 2-0 against Carl Kirk and Jonny Pell.
A new name was guaranteed to be engraved on the Division One singles trophy with first-time finalists Simon Hill, of Tigers C, and Josh Higgins, of Drayman’s A, in competition. Higgins is relatively new on the darts scene but has been making huge strides over the last two years. Hill is relatively young but still an old hand and plays for Cambridgeshire. That experience helped Hill in a high-scoring game. Some of the finishing was nervy but Hill held his nerve to win 3-2.
Danny Goddard, of Tigers B, lifted the Division Two crown by seeing off the challenge of Holbeach Services Club’s Chris Chamberlain.
Highlight of the evening was the Division Three singles final with Drayman’s C’s Connor McKenzie beating Jack Morton 2-1. Morton played his part but 14-year-old McKenzie held his nerve to hit the winning double.
John Charlton, of Lincoln Arms B, beat Rose & Crown’s Hank Watson 2-1 in a solid Captains Cup final.
The ladies and mixed pairs finals were not played because some of the finalists could not attend. That left Riverside Hotel’s Tracey Baldwin as the ladies winner with Josh Ford and his mum Tracey Ford, of Consti E, claiming the mixed pairs honours.
Thanks were expressed to everyone who attended the finals night, with special thanks going to the committee and chairman Ian Tilley, who compèred the evening.
The 2025/26 season hits the ground running with four new teams joining the fray as action gets back under way next week.

Captains Cup runner-up Hank Watson, Ian Tilley and winner John Charlton.
Division One singles runner-up Josh Higgins, chairman Ian Tilley and winner Simon Hill.
Division Two champions and Dick Morgan winners Pied Calf – Paul Faulkner, Steve Rawding, Stu Page, Jacob Herd, Josh Faulkner and Harry Faulkner.
Division Three winners, Ship Long Sutton.
