Tigers survive comeback scare to beat Boston Town

Holbeach United 4 Boston Town 4
(Holbeach win 4-1 on penalties)

Depleted Holbeach United moved into the semi-final of the Lincs FA Senior Trophy after edging out Boston Town on penalties in a remarkable match at Carter’s Park on Wednesday night.

Playing their second game in as many nights after beating Sleaford Town 5-2 in the UCL Premier Division on Tuesday, the Tigers made a host of changes to their starting line-up.

But it didn’t seem to make any difference, as they raced into a 4-0 lead thanks to goals from ex-Boston skipper Ollie Pinner, reserve team player Jonny Wiggins (2) and a stunning Gary King free kick.

Amazingly, the Poachers then launched an incredible comeback as Matt Kennedy (2), Jack Wightwick and Craig Mitchell all notched to make it 4-4 by the final whistle – forcing a penalty shoot-out.

The Tigers held their nerve to progress 4-1, though, and will face either Deeping Rangers or Harrowby United in the last four.

More on the game to follow.

Tigers starting XI: Lovelace, Delahoy, Shepherd, Wells, Smith, Pinner, Newcombe, Chappell, Treacher, King, Wiggins.
