TIGERS: Drury brings title-winning Oadby Town captain to Carter’s Park

V SPORT

Holbeach United co-boss Graham Drury has completed his fourth capture from UCL Division One champions Oadby Town in 48 hours.

He’s added captain Jake Duffy to goalkeeper Luke Pickering and strikeforce Courtney Meade and Lee Dube.

Drury likened Duffy to the style of England midfielder Frank Lampard in the way he operates and knows where the net is.

He said: “Jake gets goals from midfield. He arrives in the box at good times and can pick a pass.

“I’d say he’s going to be more of an artist in the midfield and the likes of Ollie Pinner (recruited from Boston Town) and Jonny Allen (returned from Spalding United) are going to be the soldiers alongside him.

“Jake’s a lad I tried to sign as a 19-year-old when I was at Corby Town. He’s 25 now and I’m delighted to have got him.”

Drury, who has also signed defender Ross Watson and striker/defender Danny Spencer this week, expects to have about 22 players when the squad reports for its first pre-season session on Thursday. He has a couple more signings in the pipeline, but eventually will settle on a first-team squad of about 16.

And he insisted that there was still an opportunity for youngsters such as Jordan Keeble to figure.
