Tigers beaten by league leaders

Holbeach United’s play off hopes are effectively over after a 3-0 loss to Thurlow Nunn First Division North leaders Heacham – but there was some cup glory at the club.
The Tigers’ reserve side are through to the final of the Peterborough Senior Cup after defeating Stamford Belvedere on penalties in the semi-final after a 0-0 draw at Carter’s Park on Saturday.
The 1st team were without a game at the weekend and travelled to Heacham on Tuesday night.
They had plenty of chances in the game after going behind to Fletcher Toll’s second minute goal for the leaders.
George Frost twice went close while John Yambusu had an effort well saved.
A long range effort from John Flanagan though doubled Heacham’s lead before the break.
The game might have been different still in the second half after Holbeach were awarded a penalty, but Callum Davies fired it over the bar.
And Toll rounded off a win that keeps Heacham a point above Downham at the top.
Holbeach are now nine points adrift of the play-offs with four games remaining, but that includes Saturday’s scheduled game at Harwich they prevously won 4-2 but have been asked to play again due to a refereeing error.
They club say they’re refusing to play the fixture.
It would mean they’re next back in action on Tuesday night at Carter’s Park for the first of a double header against Leiston.
Tigers: Rigby, Nicholson, Robertson, Oldham, Henderson, Carter, Barnes, Wirkowski, Davies, Frost, Yambasu. Subs Millinson, Cook, Ibeneme, Clifton.
Attendance: 120.
