Three police officers injured after seeing man damaging vehicles with metal bar

Three police officers were injured after a man was seen damaging vehicles with a metal bar in a Spalding cul-de-sac.

Lincolnshire Police say they were initially called to a report of a fight shortly before 7.30pm on Sunday (May 3) on Betjeman Close.

“Officers attended to find a man damaging vehicles with a metal bar,” a police spokesman said. “During the incident a constable were injured; two more constables were injured at hospital later that day.

“A 38-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with several offences.

“Florentin Costea, of Betjeman Close, Spalding, was charged with assault; threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a private place; assault by beating of an emergency worker; two counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty; and two counts of criminal damage to property under £5,000.

“He was due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court, this morning (May 5).”
