Three exciting signings for Spalding United as Zakuani puts his stamp on squad

Gaby Zakuani added three new faces to his Spalding United squad on only his second day in the role.

Fresh off his appointment on Monday, the Tulips chief sealed deals for striker Chris Assombalonga, 6ft7in centre back Jordan Foster and the talented Glenn Yala Bolasie on Tuesday.

Assombalonga, who is the brother of of Middlesborough striker Britt, is best known for stints with Dagenham and Redbridge and Billericay Town and should add some much-needed firepower to the Spalding attack.

Wideman Bolasie also has a famous sibling in Everton winger Yannick and lists North Greenford and Aylsebury Vale Dynamo among his former sides.

On Foster, who spent time at Tiffin University in the USA, Zakuani said: “Jordan is a player I’ve always had my eye on and I’ve had to work hard to get him on board.

“He’s a big strong lad who will give us the physicality I feel we’ve been lacking. I’m looking forward to working with him”

Foster himself added: “I’m grateful for the chance to play for Spalding United.

“I’m excited to be around seasoned professionals that make up the coaching team, and can’t wait to get started.

“This is the right move for me, I feel this is a great place for me to continue learning and developing.”
