Three and easy – Andy Prior sails home again

It’s a hat-trick of wins so far for Andy Prior as he yet again claimed victory in Welland Yacht Club’s Frostbite series.

Prior has been in fine form so far during this series and in last Sunday’s round five he was again the victor amid an excellent field of five boats.

After the horrendous weather of the previous day which saw gale force winds and driving rain, almost perfect sailing conditions greeted those that took part.

Prior, who is in the Laser class was first home followed by Alan Cox and Roger Ackroyd sailing RS200.

Ros Nickols (Europe), Paul Burton (Solo).

Ivan Hirst was second in the Laser class as was Brian Cobb in the Europe class.

Following them to the finish line on the day was Tom Bell and Andy Agar (Scorpion), Alistair Mitchell (Laser), Paul Wilson (Solo), Ian Thompson and Delphin (enterprise).

After handicaps were applied Prior held onto his first position to claim yet another win in the series.

Nickols was promoted to second place and Burton picked up the points for third after the calculations.

The Frostbite series continues at 11.30am on Sunday before the final race on Boxing Day.
