A Spalding man has been fined after admitting threatening to share a video of a sex act with an ex-partner after she’d told him the relationship was over.
Magistrates at Boston heard that Kallan Gowland (29), of Dorchester Road made the threat by text in 2018.
The matter had been raised as part of an unrelated allegation that was not being continued, the court heard.
Gowland pleaded guilty after previously entering a not guilty plea.
His defence solicitor Beris Brickles told the court that the admission of guilt had come at an early opportunity.
Mr Brickles asked for a conditional discharge and continued that Gowland was ‘not in the right mind’ at the time of the incident and had begun to use drugs after his brother had died of a heroin addiction.
“It was a kneejerk reaction due to his emotions at the time.
“I understand he never intended to share the video.
“He seems to be getting help with his drug use.”
Magistrate John Lock said: “In your mind (sharing the video) was never much of a threat, but people can’t read minds and the victim could never be sure that you wouldn’t do it.”
Gowland was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge. A three year restraining order was also put in place.”
