Thousands stolen from nightclub

Thieves stole more than £10,000 after breaking into Spalding’s XO nightclub in the early hours of Monday.

They forced their way into the Westlode Street nightspot at around 5am, smashing CCTV cameras in the process.

Owner Matt Clarke, said: “Forced entry has been made to the property, the cash office and stock room, resulting in a loss in excess of £10,000.

“Damage has been caused to the fabric of the building, as well as the CCTV equipment, albeit we are grateful that some footage has still been captured.

“We are grateful that no staff have been injured in the theft and that the damage caused will not impact on the coming weekend operations.

“It is also hugely beneficial that over 75 per cent of the revenue generated is now in digital transactions, reducing our loss significantly.

“We have of course immediately reviewed our security measures across all sites, and taken some remedial action, where needed.”

XO and new bar Imaginarium were subject to a £500,000 investment earlier this year.

Mr Clarke says it’s led to an increase in custom at the Spalding nightspots in recent months.

“The site opened as the new venues earlier this year and we’ve seen a continued substantial increase in customer footfall from the previous Loaded nightclub, which successfully traded for over 14 years,” he said
