Interim boss Lewis Thorogood wants to see Spalding United get back to winning ways against Chasetown tonight (7.45pm).
The Tulips, who saw last Saturday’s home date with Carlton Town rained off, were also without a fixture over weekend.
They’re currently on a five-game winless run in the BetVictor NPL South East Division and sit 16th in the table – some three points clear of relegation-threatened Chasetown down in 18th.
Thorogood, who has had to let winger Kevin Bastos leave the club for financial reasons, is looking forward to a rare game under the lights at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
And he wants his side to end their winless run before a ‘losing mentality’ sets in at the club.
He said: “It’ll be quite nice to have a game under the lights.
“Despite Chasetown being threatened by relegation, I know it’ll be a tough game.
“They’ve just changed their manager and got a great win at Belper last Saturday.
“As far as we’re concerned, we really want to bounce back. Our last two losses have been followed by the next game being postponed, which has been really frustrating.
“We don’t want that losing mentality to creep in at this stage of the season.
“We need the support of the fans, too. All I can say to them is please come out and back the lads.”
Having back-to-back weekends off has worked in Spalding’s favour in one way, with both Josh Spencer and Jack Smith now fit to return.
Elliott Burrell and Scott Floyd have also shaken off niggles.
