There’s snow way these young people were cancelling World Book Day 2018

With its blanket of snow Spalding and South Holland looked like a scene from Narnia from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe or The Gruffalo’s Child on World Book Day (Thursday, March 1).

As a result, most of the schools were closed for the day of dressing up as favourite book characters.

But that didn’t stop a number of children from being inspired to don their costumes for the day anyway.

Matthew McKenzie (4) was so excited about wearing his Mr Tod costume from the Beatrix Potter book about the famous fox that he put them on straight away, despite Munchkins Pre-School being closed and the snow delaying the delivery of the fox ears.

When the ears did arrive later on that day, he put the costume back on again.

And there were plenty more in the district who dressed up.

If your youngster is taking part in a delayed World Book Day event, send your pictures in of them to [email protected]
