Spalding’s schoolchildren were in fine voice at the amazing choir competition held last week.
The packed St Mary’s and St Nicolas Church was filled with song as the sound of school choirs soared and lifted spirits.
More than 400 people attended the concert, where St John the Baptist school took top spot.
Second place went to St Paul’s Community Primary School, while Spalding Parish Church of England Day School took the third place prize.
There were also individual awards handed out for some of the top singers on the day.
As always, the event was organised by Tulip Events, whose director Jan Whitbourne said: “Congratulations to all the schools, it is always very difficult to pick a winner.”
She added: “Thank you to Reverand John Bennett and Mary and ladies for putting on the tea, coffee, biscuits and mince pies and for assisting with the music.”
Jan says the event, which is open to the public, will return next year for another day of sweet song from the finest voices the district has to offer.
