The Kitchen shuts its doors for good

Springfields-based eatery The Kitchen closed its doors for good on Saturday.

The independent family-run bar and restaurant has been at the shopping outlet centre for more than a dozen years.
The Voice understands it told staff last Monday (September 1) that they were losing their jobs as the venue struggled with rising prices.
A statement on the company’s website said the double hit of higher costs and declining footfall had prompted the decision.
“We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us over the past 13 years – our wonderful guests who chose to spend their time with us, and above all, our incredible team who have always given their all with passion and dedication.
“We wish the very best to whoever takes on this site in the future, and to our team members as they move onto their next chapters. If anyone is looking for great team members in all roles, please reach out to [email protected] and we will pass on your details.”
A former member of staff said: “It’s down to rising costs.
“Everything is going up, the government is putting up National Insurance and because of other food related businesses nearby and there are only so many customers to go round.”
