Thanks to the ‘Wombles’

A special presentation has been made to the Sutton Bridge Wombles who have collected thousands of bags of rubbish.

Deanne Gough and Andy Tilley have covered 1,660 miles over 868 hours over the last year in keeping the streets tidy.
South Holland District Council chairman Andrew Woolf joined the celebrations and presented a trophy and citation.
Chairman of the parish council Mary Middleton thanked Michael Booth and Chris Brewis, the sponsors of the event.
Both of them spoke about how much the efforts of the Wombles had been appreciated by the wider community.
“We do not do this for recognition, of course. We do it for the community and our pride in it. We go beyond litter picking, as we cut grass and try to keep it all litter free and debris free,” said Mr Tilley.
