Terry’s service badge award

A retired fire crew manager who served for nearly 30 years, including serving at Spalding Fire Station, has received a badge from the Fire Brigades Union (FBU).

Terry Day, who stopped service in 2006 after completing 30 years with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, including 26 years at Spalding Fire Station, has been awarded the 40 year Membership Badge from the FBU.

On joining the Fire Service in 1976, Terry joined the FBU and in 1991 was presented with the FBU 25 year Membership Badge.

On retirement, wanting to keep ties with the Fire Service, he decided to continue his Union Membership.

In 2018 the FBU Gold 40 year Membership Badge was introduced for Fire Service members who had completed at least 40 years membership and were still employed by local authorities only.

In February this year the criteria rules for the issue  of the 40-year FBU Membership Badge was amended  to include retired out of trade members who were compulsory retired after up to 30 years’ service and had the qualifying years membership, which included Terry, as he had been a member of the FBU for 43 years.
