A group of friends and family put their best feet forward for an epic pub crawl to help a cancer charity.
Trisha Putterill died on February 24 last year, shortly after a cancer diagnosis.
Her sister-in-law Maxine said there were only a few weeks between the diagnosis and losing Trisha, of Holbeach.
“It was totally devastating for everyone. She had been in pain with a blood clot at Christmas and died in February,” she said.
Trisha, known as Totty, was married to Les (pictured) for 12 years, and he was joined by friends and family for the ten-mile walk, stopping at ten pubs to have ten drinks along the way.
They set off from the Riverside in Sutton Bridge and ended at the Crown in Holbeach several hours later, much the worse for wear.
“The walk from Fleet Hargate to Holbeach was after eight pubs and everyone had drunk quite a lot so it was good fun,” said Maxine.
The walk raised almost £5,000 for Macmillan.
“We wanted to thank them in a fun way which reflected Trisha’s zest for life,” said Maxine.
Trisha was given the nickname Totty soon after she and Les got together.
“She was living in London at the time and we thought she was very posh,” said Maxine.
But her sister-in-law, who worked for insurance company Compare the Market, took it in good stead.
Local band Hail to the Beer played a gig at the Greyhound, Sutton Bridge, on Saturday, May 24, and also held a raffle. All the proceeds were donated to the walk.
“The walk started at 11.30am and we made it to the Crown in Holbeach at 7.30pm. There was a total of 26 of us, along with a support vehicle which went ahead to order the drinks.
“Everyone managed to complete the full ten miles and ten drinks,” said Maxine.
