Holbeach United lost ground on their ChromaSport UCL Premier Division title rivals after suffering a 1-0 home defeat against mid-table Cogenhoe United on Wednesday night.

A 23rd-minute strike from Montel Dore gave the Cooks all three points at Carter’s Park, leaving the Tigers in fifth place – some nine points off leaders Yaxley with three games in hand.

Hosts Holbeach, who hit the bar through Lewis Leckie late on, held a numerical advantage for 50 minutes of the match after Cogenhoe’s Liam Tuck was sent off just before the break.

Seb Hayes’ side will hope to get back to winning ways at Desborough Town on Saturday (3pm).
