South Lincolnshire vehicle recovery company Tears is looking to move its storage depot after buying a site.
The company, based in Sutton Bridge, rents a site in Bridge Road, Long Sutton but has now bought a potential home 320m away.
A design and access statement submitted to South Holland District Council says the company needs to find a permanent location for this side of the business.
Tears has its main office in Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge, and also has a depot at Gosberton Road, Surfleet.
“Tears have purchased the whole site, including the dwelling, of 990 Bridge Road. This dwelling will be kept in the ownership of Mr Tear and rented out,” the document adds.
The yard is a disused commercial and agricultural area which has been vacant for many years.
There is a building and glass house footings along with brick and gravel hardstanding and an acre of grassland.
Tears wants to relocate the 24-hour vehicle recovery and transport parking and vehicle storage at the site.
The application looks to move the existing access and widen it to create a straight entry point. The existing building will also remain and a security fence and gates will be added.
“The site is between many commercial businesses and factories along Bridge Road. To the east of the site is a large industrial building owned by LC Packing. Further east is the large industrial site of Princes,” says the application.
There will also be a vehicle compound including a wash-down bay. There will be another compound on the south of the site and the land will all be hard standing.
The applicant says there will be no increase in traffic as a result of the move. It is also within a 40mph zone.
“The clients think there might be a reduced number of movements due to this site being larger than 58 Bridge Road, therefore movements will not be required to move them to Sutton Bridge or Surfleet.
“The applicant’s business is long established in the area and wants to retain its presence in the Long Sutton area as most of the staff are local, so the relocation and ownership of this site is important to the company going forward, and to wider economic prosperity in the area,” adds the statement.
