Teacher’s body found at home two days after ‘suicide’ husband’s

Police say the husband of Bernice Williams, the Lutton teacher found dead at home on Sunday (April 9), is thought to have committed suicide.

Lawrence Williams’ body had been discovered at their home in Colley’s Gate on Friday – the day before police issued an appeal about Mrs Williams’ whereabouts. The cause of her death is still to be confirmed.

A Lincolnshire Police statement on Thursday (April 13) said: “Officers investigating the deaths of two people who were found at a property in the Lutton area are preparing a file for the coroner.

“Formal identification has yet to be carried out but the two individuals are believed to be Lawrence Williams (50), who was discovered on April 7, and his wife Bernice Williams, also 50, who was found on April 9 while extensive searches by specialist teams were being carried out at the property on Colley’s Gate.

“Post mortem examinations have been carried out but cause of death has yet to be established for Mrs Williams, while it is believed Mr Williams took his own life.”

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
