Rehearsals are well under way for the South Holland Singers’ fun and informal Tea and Tunes performance on Saturday, September 2, from 3pm to 5.30pm at Spalding Baptist Church
The uplifting music, ranging from Mamma Mia and Hey Jude to Danny Boy and Sailing, will culminate in a Last Night of the Proms-style selection including Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory, all accompanied by refreshments, bunting and probably some flag-waving!
The audience will be encouraged to join in with the final part of the concert.
Entrance is £5 on the door, under-16s free.
After this exciting start, preparations will start in earnest for the choir’s Christmas concert at Burty Fen in West Pinchbeck on December 19.
New members are always welcome and there’s also the ‘Come and and Sing’ taster day on Saturday January 9 2027.
Later next year, SHS will be celebrating its 80th anniversary with a very special concert.
A spokesman said: ‘For those considering joining, it’s good to know that we don’t hold auditions and you do not need to be able to read music although it’s an advantage if you can.
“If you do decide the choir is the right fit for you after a three-week free trial, various membership payment options are available.”
The choir rehearses every Thursday evening at the Baptist Church from 7.30-9pm during the autumn and spring terms (approximately 30 weeks).
At least two concerts a year are the aim, at a variety of venues.
