Taste of the Orient for ball’s 20th anniversary

Spalding got a taste of the Orient as Springfields Events Centre was transformed into Little China for the 20th anniversary Midsummer Ball.
The eyecatching decor – including a Chinese dragon – set the scene for a memorable evening for the 525 guests, who came to enjoy themselves and help raise as much money as possible for good causes.
This year’s beneficiaries are Macmillan Cancer Support, Action Medical Research and LIVES.
Music for the evening was provided by Rick Parfitt Junior, son of the Status Quo legend, and his band.
The theme of the evening was reflected in Chinese-inspired food and drink, and fundraising was boosted by a gift tree and auction, with prizes including a custom-made wine rack, a bed, a bike and even a “drunken night” in a brewery.
Chairman of the Midsummer Ball committee Tanya Beresford said: “It was a really, really good night.
“Everybody seemed to love the decor and RPJ band were a big hit – the dancefloor was full all night.”
Although the final total raised is not yet known, Tanya is hoping it will be around £20,000, similar to last year.
