Young chefs cooked up a storm as the Rotary Club of Spalding held its annual Young Chef competition.
Six contestants aged 14 and 15 took part in the event at Spalding High School.
The students had an hour and a half to prepare and present a meal for two consisting of a main course followed by a dessert on a budget of £18.
Amongst other requirements each competitor was judged on their menu, presentation of the table, healthy choice of ingredients, safety and hygiene, and of course the taste of both courses.
Cash prizes were awarded to the top three competitors by Rotary president Diana Ridpath.
First place was awarded to Sophie Edwards who made her own pasta dish from scratch.
Second place was Daisy Davis, closely followed by Zara-Jayne Odell in third.
The judge, Robert Presland who is a semi retired professional in catering, and hospitality and lecturer at the Inspire Educational Group, said: “The standard this year was very high and all the competitors achieved very good results in their preparation, presentation and flavour of their ingredients.
“They should all be proud of their achievement.”
The Rotary branch also donated £50 to Spalding High School as a thank you for hosting the event.
