Talented Spalding teenager Bailey is hoping to make his mark in 2018

A budding Spalding biker is gearing up for his second season of motorcycle racing and first competing alongside adults.

Bailey Harker, who attends Spalding Academy, competes in the British Mini Bike championship and he’s looking for sponsorship ahead of moving up a level in 2018.

The 16-year-old finished an impressive fifth in his first season competing in the Junior SM 140 class in 2017 including earning two second places in round two of the series at Teeside.

At the final round of the championship at Whilton Mill in Northamptonshire, Bailey made the step up to the 160 adult class to get a taste of the quality.

He certainly didn’t look out of place and qualified sixth out of the field of 28, finishing seventh in the first race followed by a hugely impressive fourth in the second.

Now he’s moving up to the adult class 160 class for the whole of the 2018 season and he’s looking for more sponsors to help him make the most of racing at the next level.

Bailey, who attends races with his family, said: “I’ve always watched motorcycling on TV my whole life and just love motorbikes.

“I enjoyed last year and the highlights were the second places in Teeside, but I want to go on and win championships.

“When I made the move up to the 160 class for the final round of last year, it wasn’t easy against the adults for the first couple of laps of the first race, but when I got in to my rhythm I felt comfortable and got two solid results.

“Now I’m looking forward to 2018.”

For any sponsorship opportunities you can contact Bailey through his Facebook page www.facebook.com/Bailey-Harker-Racing.

He’s currently also looking to raise £150 towards tyres through donations.
