Unusually in recent weeks, the only matches played in Spalding and District Table Tennis League (sponsored by Vital Recruitment) were league fixtures.
On the minus side, five more went on to the unfinished/postponed listings.
In Division One the top two met again; the league is now into the third and final round of top-flight fixtures for the season.
Although the match remains unfinished, South Holland have taken a stranglehold against Bladerunners, leading 3-1 and moving 18 ahead at the top of the table.
This lead is slightly distorted by the number they have unfinished between them – 11 in total – but puts them close to uncatchable as we enter the final third.
John Gilbert and Richard Hammond took one each and the doubles while Colin Vertigan won one but, as he was doubling up in the divisions with four five-enders, ran out of time for his final game.
With Nets and Edges on a bye, Jokers had the chance to make up ground and did so with two wins from Guntars Briedes against Outsiders, the only games played in this match.
JDM also moved closer with a 4-1 win over Defenders.
Jon Chesworth scored a double while Christian Green, who seems to have a hex on his father Martyn. beat him again for his first win of the season.
In Division Two things continue to be interesting.
Vertigan scored a two for Castle Sports against leaders Skidlids but they won the other three, including an inevitably deciding doubles to move seven clear at the top.
Creeping steadily up the table over the last few weeks have been Mine’s a Pint who faced second-placed Can’t Move Won’t Move.
They won this encounter 3-2 – the doubles decided things again, though for once all four players won a singles – to maintain contact with the leaders who are nine ahead of them but having played three more matches.
Waiting in the wings are Young Guns, a further four back and, because of their postponed match this week, with a further match in hand, and Hurricane Brothers, two further back who should have played Guns.
Below them Bourne Nightmayors continued their campaign with a 4-1 win over Casey’s Pingers, though two of their losses went to the fifth end which could have changed the result.
Finally, Team Equinox shared the two games played with MatDuf in another unfinished match and will be hoping to close ground when they get to play their catch-up games.
