Sutton Bridge Golf Club’s men complete an unbeaten season and secure promotion

Sutton Bridge Golf Club’s men’s team are celebrating after going an entire season unbeaten en-route to winning Handicap B Division Two in the South Lincs Golf League.

The team rounded off their campaign with a 4-2 victory over Burghley Park, making it six wins and two draws from their eight fixtures.

As a result of their stellar season, Sutton Bridge will now be promoted to Handicap B Division One –which currently houses the likes of neighbouring rivals Boston, Toft Hotel and Gedney Hill.

Captain Ryan Rout-Lester said: “First of all I would like to thank everyone who has made themselves available and played for the league team this season.

“Whether you have only played one game or all of them, you have all played your part in helping Sutton Bridge stay unbeaten all season and helping us get promotion to Division One.

“Thanks to everyone.”

Against Burghley Park, the Bridge wins came from Jonathan Shippey and John Sullivan (5&4), Sam Peggs and Pat Land (1up), Sid Warner and Scott May (7&6) and Robin Houston and Dave O’Connell (1up).

Defeated on the day were skipper Rout-Lester and Paul Penney (2&1) and Jon Essam and Ethan English (2&1).
