Surprises and goals galore on exciting night of six-a-side action at Surfleet

Division One threw up a host of surprises on a hot and exciting Monday night of football in the Spalding and South Holland Voice 6-a-side League.

The first came in the opening top tier game of the night at Surfleet’s Glen Park, as leaders Tekkers went into their game with Evolution with a perfect five wins from five.

They were expected to make that six against promoted opposition, but a stubborn, organised and relentless Evolution managed to tear up the script with a super 1-0 win.

Tom Paige was man of the match (MOTM) in this game as he and his Evolution side left the field buzzing.

The Squad then beat Notinmymums Forest 3-2 as the eyebrow-raising results continued to flow. The Squad lads, who turned over Evolution last week, made it two from two and secured a mid-table spot with this thrilling and polished showing.

Alistair Morgan grabbed MOTM in a game that was a great advert for the league.

An eight-goal thriller signalled match three as You’ve Got No Fans and champions Polishborough grabbed four goals each.

This was always going to be a goal-fest, as both sides never struggle to find the net.

YGNF keeper Ollie Coulam took a well-deserved MOTM prize as he and his side were left happier with a share of the spoils as the Poles missed the chance to go back to the top.

Simple FC then secured a vital win as they look to stave off relegation. They beat East Europa 2-0, as they exerted total control over their out-of-sorts rivals. Daniel Mason was MOTM.

Old Boy Coaches and Mirror Signal Malouda was the big relegation clash of the night as the pair met to close pitch two for the evening’s action. Old Boys were unyielding, proficient and solid as they beat Mirror 2-1 to exit the drop zone.

Adam Braybrook was MOTM in this clash.

The action in the top tier drew to a close as Pro Ballers edged past Univeg Team 1-0.

The game was stop-start in the first period following a nasty shoulder dislocation to Univeg skipper Jiri Spacek.

When the game was flowing, Pro Ballers began to exert their talent and found the net through MOTM Nigel Steadman.

Division Two got under way with Dynamo Kiev failing to build on last week’s point as they lost 4-2 to FC Barnicols. Reece Parker was on point for Barnicols as he made it two MOTM awards in as many games for his side.

Nibblesborough FC, meanwhile, continued their good vein of form as they beat a defensively-sound Tekkerslovakia 3-1.

Tom Olding picked up MOTM as his side moved up to third in the table.

Leaders Puyol Pants Down now boast the only 100 per cent record in the league after turning over Bowlcut Wanderers FC 2-0. A spicy game with plenty of passion, Puyol scored early and held firm before adding a second.

Dan Woods was MOTM again, making it four in six games for him.

Elsewhere, Andrew Baker snatched MOTM for Sarah’s Boys as they beat BK’s Athletic 3-2. A topsy-turvy game which neither side was able to dominate, it provided another entertaining spectacle.

The TBME were made to work hard as they beat Mail Carters 2-1. A sound back-to-front showing from Mail Carters wasn’t enough for them grab a point, as The TBME improved on last week’s draw. With star man Jake Farrell missing, Alistair Morgan stepped up to be MOTM.

The final game of the night was a solid 1-1 draw for Balotellitubbies against a new-look Posh Old Boys.

The Posh lads, sporting a fetching new blue kit, will be hoping to improve after its first showing. Marvin Scampion was MOTM.
