A support service which has helped more than 200 vulnerable people in its first year has had its contract extended.
The Lincolnshire Good Home Alliance provides information and advice to vulnerable people who require additional support to help them identify the services and solutions they need to stay safe, warm and well at home, writes Local Democracy Reporter Oliver Castle.
Members of South Holland District Council’s (SHDC) cabinet accepted a £67,398 Disabled Facilities Grant from Lincolnshire County Council – which will enable the service to continue until 2028.
SHDC agreed for £32,946 to be used to extend the Good Home Alliance advice and casework service for an extra 21 months – from July 1. 2026 to March 31, 2028 – and for £34,452 to be allocated towards delivering the Disabled Support Grant service.
At a recent meeting portfolio holder for strategic and operational housing, Tracey Carter (pictured), said: “The alliance provides clear information, practical support, and hands on help to vulnerable residents who may struggle to navigate repairs, improvements or accessing funding.
“The module is delivering real benefits, reducing hazard, improving wellbeing and offering strong potential value for money as more cases progress.
“In its first year alone, the casework service supported over 200 referrals, completed improvements to 40 homes, with a further 28 households having works underway.
“Half of the 153 cases closed in the first year, received advice and guidance and engaged thousands of residents and professionals across the county.
“To date, the service has received more than 470 referrals, more than 90 of those being South Holland residents.
“Referrals have been received from a wide of partners with South Holland DFG team and wellbeing Lincs being some of the highest utilisers of the service.”
SHDC leader Nick Worth said: “Any disabled facility funding that we can get is a good news to the council, it is good news to the tenants and anybody else who’s eligible for that funding. It’s always good to have and we always want more.”
