Support for rural mums

An event for mums in Holbeach St Marks has proved a huge hit.

NCT Birth and Beyond Community Supporters held its first rural drop-in morning in the village which aims to support mums and mums-to-be in the area.

As well as BBCS Volunteers, the local Children’s Centre, the police, the community midwives, Better Births Lincolnshire and the Job Centre all attended to help mums access information and services in their local area.

Tash Wilson Cox was one of the mums who attended. She said: “ I walked into the room and was greeted by the lovely ladies from Birth and Beyond who made me feel welcome and gave me lots of useful information.

“I found all the services that attended that day very helpful and was able to talk to a variety of services in one place. I would highly recommend any mums or mums-to-be to attend one of these events. “

Sarah-Jane Richens NCT Perinatal Peer Support Project Manager who organised the event, said: “All the services who attended were so pleased they were able to speak to mums from the local community.

“Holbeach St Marks C of E Primary School were very involved in letting local parents know about the services on offer.

“We are keen to hold more of these drop-ins in the future in various villages and it is lovely to hear that the mums found the drop-in useful.”
