Superb showing nets Taylor impressive win at Tydd Gote Angling Club

John Taylor was the stand-out performer at the Tydd Gote Angling Club’s open/club match at Black Dyke on Wednesday with a superb 12lb 6oz of quality roach from peg 14.

He fished an excellent match in the bright, blustery and clear conditions, catching most of his fish on his long line – although he did pick off some quality stamp roach on his inside line too.

Second was Dave Watkin, who put a level 4lb of dumpy roach on the scales from peg 18, and third was Archie Greenwood on 21 with 2lb 12oz.

Steve Fox, on end peg 23, finished fourth and was the only other angler to break the 2lb barrier.

Fox continued his good form into the weekend with gudgeon and sticklebacks from end peg 1 at Main Road for his maiden win.

But it was a tough match, with Steve Borrett the only other angler to catch, netting a single stickleback.

  • Holbeach and District Angling Club Sunday Club match at sharps section: Result – 1st Roger Smith 23lb 4.5oz; 2nd Tom Wilson 15lb 8.5oz; 3rd Gary Boxhall 12lb 4oz; 4th Chris Newton 8lb 14oz.
