Super Summer Sixes glory for Denmark-bound Spalding United Blue boys

Spalding United under-11 Blues kicked off their 2017 summer tournament campaign by winning the Holbeach United Summer Sixes event.

The young blues started a little slowly, losing their first group game against FFA Gold 1-0.

However, this was the only goal they conceded throughout the whole tournament. They finished second in their group, which meant they faced the winners of the other group, Huntingdon Rowdies.

The semi-final was a very close and tense game, which needed to be decided via a penalty shoot-out.

Thankfully for the Spalding young guns, they progressed thanks to some excellent penalty saves by Charlie Bell.

Their opposition in the final was the only team to beat them in the whole competition, FFA Gold.

This time Spalding were playing on another level from the first game and scored two fantastic goals to lift the trophy.

Next stop for the team is the Dana International Tournament, which is held in Denmark from the July 24-28. They thank sponsors Manor Fresh Ltd, Sign Design Services, Bell Formworks, Roythornes Solicitors, Blast Off Services and Spalding United for making it possible.
