Super show is Childs play for billiards ace Rob

A Rob Childs masterclass was the highlight of Monday night’s Spalding and District Billiards League fixtures.

The Crowland B potter, who plays off an O200 handicap, reeled of breaks of 70, 50, 47, 33 and 30 (unfinished) to see off Consti D’s Stewart Davies (R20). He was the only Crowland winner, though, as Consti’s John Bellerby (R80) and Alan Hansard (R70) both won to seal a 5-2 victory.

Elsewhere, two sides racked up hefty 7-0 successes. Donington crushed Holbeach A in a whitewash, despite breaks of 45 and 44 from Hugh Pinner (O170).

Holbeach B were the other side to take maximum points in their derby with Holbeach C.

A 26 break from Denis Hix (R70) was their highlight, with Nigel Ward (R80) and Ashley Bunn (R40) the other winners.

Leaders Long Sutton went down 4-2 at home to Gosberton, despite an unfinished 46 break from Mick Cooper (O40) in the opening frame. Jack Craft (R90) and Malc Dennis (R110) hit back for Gosberton to seal the surprise result of the night.

Crowland A were 5-2 winners against Consti B despite breaks of 36 and 29 from Mick Johnson (O170), while Pyramid A beat Consti C by the same score. John Twell (R60) settled that game for the Bourne side with a victory in the final frame.

Also 5-2 winners were Consti A, who saw off Pyramid B. Lindsay Porter (R40) starred with a 25 break for the victorious Spalding side.
