Super Scott shines at Pinchbeck and District Darts League finals night

A packed Spalding Services Club saw Green Dragon’s Scott Williams take many of the individual titles on offer at the Crowson VW Pinchbeck and District Winter Darts League’s finals night.

He started his evening in the singles semi-finals, winning 2-0 against Duggie McInerney from the Tigers Club. The other semi saw Luke Rhodes (Ship Albion) beat Darren Royal (Green Dragon) 2-1.

Williams and Royal then went on to win their pairs semi-final 2-1 against Duncan Hunt and Chris Fidler (NSH), setting up a final against Mark Horspool and Kev Aldhous (NSH), who beat Dale Crawford and Jake Merrill (Lincoln Arms D).

Next up for Williams was the Captain’s Cup final – where again he was triumphant, winning 2-0 against Steve Stancer (Lincoln Arms A).

Meanwhile, the ladies’ final saw Samantha Williams (no relation to Scott) emerge as a 2-0 winner against Lindsey Wingell.

The Mixed Pairs final saw Scott Williams team up with his wife Ellie to take on Duggie McInerney and Sharon Barnard (Tigers Club).

Thanks to some crisp finishing from the Tigers pair, they came out winners 2-1 despite a 180 from the in-form Scott Williams.

Next up, The League Pairs final was a very close encounter over the five legs.

Scott Williams, who made another 180 maximum, and Royal triumphed 3-2 against tough opponents Horspool and Aldhous.

To complete an amazing evening for Scott Williams, he also won the prestigious Singles title as he continued his excellent form to beat Rhodes in straight legs 3-0.

In the team cup competitions, New Saracen’s Head beat Lincoln Arms A to take the Fours trophy. 180’s for Paul Blow and Ant Richardson.

Elsewhere, the H&H Trophy final between Fisherman’s Arms and Consti Club A was another close encounter. Andris Bunduls won the last leg 2-1 against Luke Chilvers for a 4-3 win for the Fisherman’s team.

The evening came to a close with the Knockout Cup final, which saw Lincoln Arms A take revenge on New Saracen’s Head after a last-game win by Sam Roberts over Horspool to lift the cup 4-3.

The league’s committee would like to thank MC for the evening Ian Tilley for all of his help on the night.
