Sunday football round-up: Another Edey treble as Holbeach United hit nine

Invincible Holbeach United Sunday continued their remarkable record of winning every game since they were formed by walloping Jubilee 9-3 on Sunday.

A hat-trick from Darren Edey, taking his tally to an amazing 18 goals in four games for the Tigers, inspired what was an 11th league win from as many matches for Josh Ford and Tim Cole’s side.

Also on the mark were co-player/boss Ford, Billy Smith, Macauley Grimwood, Jamie Stevens, Steve Barnes and Marcus Gilbertson, as Holbeach moved to within six points of leaders Sutton Bridge United Sunday with four games in hand.

Chris Taylor, Jack Wycherley and Leigh Boekestyn returned fire for Jubilee, who remain fifth.

Elsewhere, a Jamie Clark hat-trick helped Spalding Wanderers win 5-0 at basement boys South Holland United FC Clarets.

Lloyd McCann and Liam Parker were the other scorers in the battle of the bottom two sides.

Sunday’s other game saw Punchbowl Tigers see off Mulberry 3-1 at Monkshouse Lane.

Reece Harker got the Mulberry consolation strike.

  • In King’s Lynn and District Sunday League Division Two, Sutton St James romped to a 4-0 win as they hosted Three Holes.

Against a Three Holes side that never roll over, Sutton were certainly made to work and battle for each and every goal.

St James found the net through Justin Bone and a Joe Harrison hat-trick.
