Sunday football: Gr-eight start to year for leaders Jubilee

Spalding and District Sunday League leaders Jubilee returned to action with a bang at the weekend as they thrashed FC Kirton 8-1.

Ryan Wheeler was their star man with a hat-trick at Monkshouse Lane Playing Field, with Steve Sinfield (2), Jake Cawthorne, Robbie Relf and Leigh Boekestyn also getting in on the act.

Nicholas Kirkland hit back, but Jubilee eased to their tenth win from 11 games.

The shock of the day saw third-placed Kirton Town handed a 4-2 home reverse by Fosdyke at Graves Park.

Scott Dixon and Liam Dawson notched for the home side, but goals from Harry McMeechan (2), Jack McMeechan and Jordan Tate fired Fosdyke to only their third win of the campaign so far.

Meanwhile, the league’s top scorer Bede Finnigan was at it again for Mulberry.

He netted four times in their 5-2 victory at Pinchbeck Sunday to make it 35 goals in just 12 games this season. Josh Ford got the other goal.

Elsewhere, South Holland United drew 2-2 with Long Sutton Athletic. Keagan Goodwin got both Holland goals, with Steven Pearl and Ryan Smith the Sutton’s scorers.

Fixtures (Sun, 10.15am): FC Kirton v Kirton Tn; Fosdyke v Pinchbeck; SSJ v Mulberry; Up The Fish v Long Sutton.
