Sunday cricket: Munson takes 5-35 in Long Sutton’s super seventh success

Flawless Long Sutton made it seven wins from as many games in Rutland League Division Four East on Sunday.

The runaway leaders defeated hosts Ufford Park by four wickets and are now a hefty 31 points clear of second-placed Werrington 2nd.

The home side never really got going after electing to bat first, losing wickets at regular intervals before being bowled out for 105 in 40 overs.

Ed Munson was the start of the show for Sutton, with his figures of 5-35 doing much of the damage.

Daniel Plant (2-17), Steven Milnes (1-21), Jake Burton (1-9) and Angus Bell (1-10) also picked up key wickets.

The successful reply was anchored by Dan Oldfield, who made an unbeaten 68 in Sutton’s 106-5.

Bell (11) and Charlie Crisp (10) also made double figures as they reached the target in just 26 overs.

Meanwhile, Moulton Harrox 2nd slipped to a six-wicket loss against Peterborough Town 2nd in the same division.

Number 11 Alex Baker top scored with 21 not out as Harrox stumbled to 64 all out at Broad Lane, before Town eased to 65-3 in 18.3 overs.
