Success for first golf junior tournament

Spalding Golf Club’s first annual junior golf tournament was played on Saturday, March 25, in memory of Margaret Barkway, who died in May 2022.

The former ladies’ captain was very involved with junior golf.
The tournament was played on the club’s new six-hole academy course.
Almost 20 junior golfers took part with trophies awarded for two age categories.
The first trophy, aimed at the youngest golfers, was won by Freddie Coddington who shot 32, closely followed by George Piper, who shot 36.
The older juniors had a three-way tie for 29.
The three winners were Lula Guarnaccia, Louie Smith and Joseph Beba. They were closely followed by Will Rooney, who shot 31.
All the juniors who took part played very well and can’t wait for next year.
If your children are interested in golf please contact the club’s Junior Organiser on [email protected].
Junior coaching takes place on Saturdays between 10am and 12pm.
