Struggling Spalding RFC must try and get survival bid under way at Matlock

Spalding RFC’s bid to kick-start a survival mission gets under way at Matlock on Saturday (2.15pm).

Town go into the game rock bottom of Midlands Two East (North), having won just one of their 14 games this season.

With just eight games left to play, they are a whopping 15 points shy of safety – meaning that staving off the drop really would be a great escape.

Matlock, who are fourth, have won two games on the bounce – scoring 89 points in the process.

Spalding have lost seven games on the spin and were beaten 38-10 by Matlock in the reverse fixture.
