Strong start for town’s new gym

Thousands of pounds of the best equipment and the best in personal support and training have come together under one roof at Spalding’s newest gym.

The work of friends Vernon Gay and Scott Miller, Heroes Gym opened last weekend and already people serious about getting fit are coming from miles around to make use of the state-of-the-art facilities.

Scott has a long history of being involved in the fitness industry, working in Portugal as a personal trainer as well as a bouncer and bodyguard, and since returning to Spalding six or seven years ago has been involved in the local bodybuilding scene.

Most recently he has been involved in training Matiss Romanovs, who has been crowned Mr Lincolnshire 2014.

He said: “What is unique here is that the equipment is among the best in the country and there is always someone on hand, in the room with you, to support you in whatever you want to achieve.

“We offer initial evaluations and sessions with a member of staff to ensure you get the most from your visits.

“We also have trained professionals who can offer personal training and nutritional advice and programmes and there really is something for everyone, with cardio machines upstairs and then the weight downstairs, with a separate area just for female members.

“Word is already spreading, even though we only opened at the weekend, and we have people coming from Peterborough to train here.

“It’s going really well and people are signing up as members.”

The gym, at 1-2 Edison Court, Pinchbeck, is open to everyone.
