Strike ballot sees majority in favour

More than 90 per cent of Unite members have voted to reject a pay offer and take industrial action at a Spalding factory.

A pay dispute at Bakkavor resulted in a ballot taken last month and the results saw 92.56 per cent in favour of strike action.
“This is an overwhelming result and we will keep all members informed of next steps in the upcoming days.
“Thank you to everyone who participated and had their say and for your continued support throughout this process,” said a social media post from Spalding’s branch of the union.
Representatives met with the company on Friday and received an improved offer of 6.4 per cent across all grades.
“We feel after the feedback from the members, that this offer isn’t at all close to what we would need to resolve this pay dispute and for this reason we won’t be taking it to ballot.
“The company have requested another pay meeting next Friday,” says the post.
The ballot for industrial action had 7.44 per cent vote against it.
The Voice contacted Bakkavor but no response had been received at the time of going to press.
