Still lots of fun to be had in the holidays

dancingThe packed programme of summer activities for children of all ages continues across South Holland this week – and there really is something for everyone.

On Friday, there’s plenty to be getting on with, starting with a family pottery session at Unique Cottage Studios, Low Fulney, from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm.

There’s also a mini monsters bug hunt at RSPB Frampton Marsh, from 11am to noon and 2pm to 3pm, where youngsters five to 12 can discover beetles, bugs and slugs.

Also on Friday, at the Castle Sports Complex, youngsters aged 6+ can join Spalding Kickers for taekwondo – a fun way to get fit and gain confidence.

On Monday, there’s a Fun with Food holiday club at The Umbrella, Westlode Street, Spalding, for children aged four to 11 at a cost of £7.50.

Children will have the opportunity to design and make their very own food animals such as banana caterpillars, lady bug apples and strawberry snakes.

On Tuesday, there’s another chance to join the Diamond DG Summer School at Moose Hall, Love Lane, Spalding, where experienced and talented coaches keep children aged four to 11 on their toes with activities including street dance, singing, disco, cheerleading, jazz, crafts and team building games.

The sessions are held every Tuesday until August 26 and the cost is £10 for a full day or £6 for a half day.

lHolbeach and Fenland Gymastics Club is holding a fun session from 10.30am to noon for primary school age children on Tuesday.

The session cost £5 and can be booked by calling 01945 420280 or email [email protected].

lTuesday will also see a Scarab Little Cooks session from 12.30pm to 2pm in the Pinchbeck/Surfleet area, where children aged two to 11 can cook pizza, biscuits and cakes.

Under 7s must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is £2.50 if booked in advance by calling 07563 242918 or 07510 416464.

On Wednesday, and every Wednesday until August 26, children of all ages can learn the basics of playing golf using real equipment at Gedney Hill Golf Club.

Learn about the golf swing, chipping, putting and bunker play in the hour-long sessions between 2pm and 3pm. The cost is £2 per child and for more details or to book, call 01406 330922 or email [email protected].

lThere is also the chance to find out what it’s like to own a pony at Four Winds Equitation Centre in West Pinchbeck.

From 10.30am to 4pm, children aged six and over can enjoy two instructional sessions where they can learn to ride or improve their skills and learn about stable management.

lWednesday also sees a “trip to the seaside” session at the holiday club at The Umbrella, Westlode Street, Spalding.

From 10am to 1pm children aged four to 11 can join the team to make slushies, create a beach in a bottle and do a spot of fishing.

It’s guaranteed to be buckets of fun and can be booked by calling 01775 712359 or emailing [email protected].

The cost is £7.50.

There’s also a hockey coaching session and games at Glen Park, Surfleet with Spalding Hockey Club from 9.30am to 11am and pottery painting with Doodles at Unique Cottage Studios, Low Fulney, from 10am to 4pm.

Ayscoughfee Hall Museum is where it’s at on Thursday, from 11am to 3pm when there will be a summer fun arts and crafts session.

Youngsters aged four to 11 can make a selection of crafts to take away with them. There’s no need to book but children must be accompanied by an adult and the cost is £2.50 a child.

There’s also a Disney party at the holiday club at The Umbrella, from 10am to 1pm where children can dress as their favourite character for fun and games. The cost is £7.50. Call 01775 712359 to book.
