A seven-wicket haul from Long Sutton’s Barry Stanway and a sensational century from Pinchbeck’s Danny Jackson were the highlights on a top weekend of South Lincs and Border League action.
In the Premier Division, Stanway’s 7-32 skittled out Belton Park for 88 before an unbeaten 25 from Phil Barnes and 35 from Adam Wright eased Sutton to 89-5.
There was also a welcome win for Moulton Harrox, who dismissed Welby for 89. They then secured a first victory of the campaign by making 91-6 in reply.
In Division One, both Long Sutton 2nd and Spalding 2nd were handed defeats. Sutton bowled Baston out for 96, but slumped to 84 in reply with John Lamin taking fine figurs of 6-8 in a ten-over spell.
Spalding, meanwhile, made 166 batting first against Market Deeping 2nd at the Memorial Field. Jimmy Clarke made a defiant 47 not out down the order to bump Town’s tally up to a respectable amount, but Deeping edged home with two wickets to spare.
There was a exciting-looking derby in Division Two as Pinchbeck hosted Spalding 3rd – but it was actually the most one-sided match of the weekend.
That’s because Pinchbeck’s Jackson made an amazing 158 not out to fire his side to a healthy 258-1. He shared an unbeaten second wicket stand of 176 with Sam Smith (72no) to leave Spalding with a mountain to climb.
Keith De-Keyzer made 62 in Town’s reply, but they were all out for just 132.
